Become a Mentor
Ordinary People Making Extraordinary Differences
Be a Mentor or Sponsor an Event to Support Successful Transitions
Everyone needs someone to believe in them. AWEE's Moving Forward and S.T.E.P. (Successful Transition and Empowerment Project) mentoring programs provide men and women who are currently and formerly incarcerated with the opportunity to once again believe that they can succeed.
What is the role of a mentor within S.T.E.P.?
Mentors provide hope, encourage positive life choices and inspire participants to live up to their fullest potential. Mentors come from all walks of life and all economic and educational backgrounds. We welcome the talents and gifts that they can bring to the overall success of the project and participants. Mentors are ordinary people making a difference.
What is the role of a community group within S.T.E.P.?
Opportunities for healthy activities with family members and their children are imperative for success. Individuals reentering their community after being incarcerated have a greater chance for success when new activities and a change of lifestyle occur. This includes the ability for participants to reunite and renew relationships with loved ones. By organizing or sponsoring a meal, outing or activity for participants and their families, community groups create avenues to promote positive choices and rebuilding of relationships.
If you are interested in positively advancing the lives of AWEE participants and their children, please call 602-223-4343.
Moving Forward is 100% funded by the U.S. Department of Justice.
